Soldiers

By Stephen H. Randall, 1968

Batik on silk

This painting groups three soldiers and their attitudes. The dark image on the right is a medic. He has a towel around his neck and he’s checking the pump action on a shotgun his dad sent him in the mail.  The standing figure on the left is 5th Special Forces and he’s making sure of his equipment for the mission. The seated figure is exhausted, sitting on his helmet, deep in thought.  What could he be thinking about?
