Guidelines for the Kenneth J. Miller Founders' Award

Award Title
Kenneth J. Miller Water For People Founders' Award

Frequency of Award (Local Committee)
Annually, if deserved. Please limit your selection to one award from your local committee or group per year. Local committees are encouraged to coordinate their review and selection process to promote regional recognition.

Eligibility for Award
A person who has provided exemplary service to Water For People through fundraising, education, publicity, committee leadership and/or raising the awareness of Water For People activities.

Nomination Requirements
Submit an official nomination form to the chair of the local WFP Committee award committee or to WFP in Denver. The International WFP Award Committee may also consider and select nominees based on work by individuals that may reflect regional work.

Nomination Procedures
Anyone may nominate an individual by submitting an official nomination form detailing the basis upon which the recommendation is made. The statement shall include a summary of the candidate's service with Water For People.

Deadlines
Nominations shall be submitted to the local/regional award committee by the date established and advertised. Information should include a copy of the awardee's nomination form and date of local group's annual meeting.

Award Committee Membership
The award committee shall consist of at least three individuals that represent the WFP Local Committee leadership. For example, for AWWA Sections and WEF Member Associations, the committee may include: the WFP Committee chair who will serve as the award committee chair; the organization chair; the international director; and, the most recent recipients of the award who are available to serve. Other recognized WFP leaders may also serve on the committee.

Method of Selecting Award Recipient
Each year, the award committee should select a recipient from the list of candidates. The committee should determine if any candidates have helped advance the mission of Water For People over and above those efforts normally expected. It is emphasized that the performance of an awardee must be exceptional and extraordinary. The selection of the awardee shall require a unanimous vote of the committee. Otherwise, no selection shall be made that year.

Presentation of the Award
The bronze pin will be presented at the respective local group's annual meeting by a WFP representative or a visiting national officer. All plaques will be presented at the Kenneth J. Miller Founders' Award Breakfast during ACE in June. A draft press release is available for local publicity.
