Introduction

This website exists as a reference for learning basic conversational Japanese.  Windows users need to download the Japanese Language Pack from Microsoft to correctly view this web page. 

For further information about how to use this site, please read the manual.

Goals

By practicing small phrases of Japanese repeatedly, you will be able to better remember and read Japanese.  This tutorial assumes that you already have a basic understanding of Hiragana and Katakana.

Using the lessons

The lessons are listed on the sidebar.  Each lesson has an introduction, a practice session, and a test.  These may all be used as many times as neccesary. 

Using the typewriter

The typewriter uses romanized Japanese to type Japanese in Hiragana and Katakana. To use the typewriter you must have Java 1.5.0 installed.
