Making Shaders for Racer v0.5.2b7.9+

This tutorial will cover all of the steps I take for making car shaders for Racer's new graphics engine. For demonstration purposes, I chose to make shaders for Strat's Citroen Xsara WRC.  This car is great to work with because Strat left the DOFs unlocked, so it is easy to get the material names and change them if needed.

Before doing shaders, though, I decided to update the car.ini for the latest betas. It now has 4wd, non-linear dampers, and is quite a great little tarmac rally car now. You can download the fully updated (INI and shaders) Xsara at the link above.

I recommend following along with this tutorial on your own so that you can gain some experience with the process.

If you decide to use the Xsara, make a new folder called "shader", and cut & paste the car.shd into that folder. Now download This Package and overwrite the existing files in the Xsara's directory. The files in the Zip are the ones I started with.

Things you will need
-Racer .5.2b7.9 for Windows or Racer .5.2b7.7 for Linux
-Zmodeler 1.7 (or whatever modeling program you made your car with)
-An image editing program capable of alpha channels and layers.
(for example Paintshop Pro, Photoshop, or TheGimp)
-A text editor
-A car in need of shaders
