W.I.P. Last Updated: January 6, 2006

April 22,  2006

Long time, no update!
Hate to disappoint you all with this, but I've basically
lost all interest in 3D modeling and racing sims.
I've passed the Ferrari F355 on to Alex Forbin for
finishing, so that should be a great release for you
all eventually! Check on RSC for that release sometime
down the road.

January 6,  2006

Still on my semester break at the moment, since I
got an entire 4 weeks off. I've been rather lazy, of
course, but slowly the F355 gets the interior filled in.
Spent a night re-texturing Stecki's race driver, and finished
the center console. Added the rearview mirror and the
seat belt dispensers. Even did the normals of what
was modeled. You can find pics of that on the WIP page.

December 11,  2005

Only a few final exams left before my semester break!
This is definitely the busiest semester I've had, and
this past 2 weeks has been non-stop reports and projects.
I haven't updated this site for a while, but the F355 now has
brake lights and blurry wheel models, which you can find
pics of in the WIP thread on RSC. I've just added a new
shot or two of the dash now, hope you all like it!

November 6,  2005

Busy as usual, but I've snuck in time to model
more of the 355's interior. Probably wont' do
more detailing on the door since it's rarely visible and
textures will do the rest. I'm pretty happy with it,
I guess.  I'll do my best in updating more frequently,
but the life of a Junior Chemical engineer is rather busy.

October 11,  2005

Well...Have to say that school has really limited my
free time. Even in my free time I haven't been doing
much at all with 3D stuff, though. Hopefully soon I
will regain my motivation and have time to play around
with polygons again, ideally finishing the 355 before
2006 (main modeling/texturing at least, LODs,
etc...maybe will take longer).

September 6,  2005

As many of you know already, rFactor got released!
I'm really looking forward to working with it's graphics
engine, as it's really quite nice:)  Bump mapping, specular mapping,
nice dynamic lighting, etc... Needless to say, I've been
playing that mostly in my free time the past few days,
as well as doing my share of homework. I did work
on the 355 today, though, finally solving the puzzle which
is the CD/auxiliary dials holder thing. You can check that
in the WIP section of course.

August 29,  2005

College starts tomorrow, so we'll see how much time
I get to work on 3D this year. There's some updates on
the F355 again, this time I've added the static shading
to the body texture. I got quite lucky that Maya gave me
a good bake to begin with, didn't need much manual shading :)

July 7,  2005

Well...hmm....another month passes it seems.
No need to fear, though, the 355 lives on.
After finishing the 308 prize cars for the RSC comp.,
I've been working more on the Ferrari in my free
time, focusing on finishing the wheels/brakes.
I wont' show pics until the texturing is done, but
I've added some detailed calipers and a few more
polies on the rim itself. This brings the total poly-count
to over 1200 triangles combined for each rim+brakes.
If this is a problem for some people I can release lower
detail versions pretty easily I think, with much less polies.
No guarantees, but hopefully I'll have some new pics soon.

June 7,  2005

Hard to believe I've let this page go stale...
Only explanation is that once summer hit, I had
to get a job and now my free time is pretty low.
Add into that a 6 day trip to Illinois for a wedding
and you've got a good idea of why I haven't been
updating much at all. Don't worry though, I'll work
on the 355 and various things when I can.

April 26,  2005

Since Ruud added wheel model switching in .5.2b9.0,
I got to focusing on the 308 again. Of the things listed
below, I did them all expect for the headlights.
The current way of faking the light on the road looks bad,
so I'll hold off until real lights are possible. You can
read about all the changes in the update in the readme.txt
accompanying the download. About the new engine sound,
it was ripped from a sound clip of a 308qv on a dyno. It
has a lot of background noise, so if anyone can help clean it
up and email it to me that would be great. I kinda like it as it is,
though, at least a lot better than the old sound.

Enjoy the new update!

March 18,  2005

I figured I should inform the general Racer audience that
I am working on a pretty major update for the Ferrari 308qv.
The INI is up to spec with the latest Racer betas, and has been
tweaked even further for realism. I even found aerodynamic
data, so it generates the correct amount of lift at high speeds.
Graphically it is receiving work as well, with changes to the shader,
adding $mirror texture to the interior view mirrors, tweaking the
model itself, adding a shadow model, and making some headlights.
More things have been changed as well, but if I listed it all, you'd
have no surprises later ;) No release date can be promised.

March 2,  2005

Instead of struggling with the 355's interior, I've decided to begin
texturing of the exterior
. So far I just mapped the main body
shell and made some doorlines. They do have little highlights
to give a 3d-ish appearance, but its only noticeable on dark colors.
I'll probably do more updating of this car in coming weeks, but all
of next week I will be on Spring Break so probly won't get anything done.
.

February 15,  2005

2 new items for the day:

1. I have released an update for Strat's 2001 Citroen Xsara WRC.
It is downloadable at Racer Xtreme.

2. I have uploaded a tutorial for doing car shaders in the new
betas. It goes step by step through the process of getting material
names, making alpha channels, and setting up the car.shd.
..

February 12,  2005

I have some sad news....due to data corruption of a Maya scene file,
the entire front half of the Enzo mesh has been lost :(

I'll get the motivation to remake it eventually...

February 1,  2005

The Lexus is finished being updated and you can grab

the new version now! It has vastly reworked texturing, some
holes filled, badges on the back, new sounds thanks to Outlaw,
and I'm sure there's more. Enjoy it.

January 30, 2005

I've been busy working on the Lexus IS300 the last few

days. Completely new wheel/tire textures, and many
improvements to the body texture (which now has
3d-looking door trim, and soon to have door handles). I'll also be
mapping the windows in a way that i can give the car a
B-pillar by using the alpha channel.  So probably within a few days
I'll post a nice update for that car.

January 27, 2005

I took a few minutes today to update the shader on Nick_II's

BMW V12 LMR. Nothing fancy, just removed emissions and
made the paint a bit more reflective to match better with
pictures I looked at. I'll try to update more shaders soon.

January 22, 2005

Added 3 new WIP's to the WIP section, so check those
out. Also removed the majority of the 456's wip pics,
since they'd just be taking up space.

January 17, 2005

Hope everyone has had a nice holiday season and a happy
new year. I'm happy to report that RSC is back up!
If you don't already know the address of the Racer forum
check my links page. I'll be posting WIPs soon
(note the 's' on WIP).

December 13, 2004

Wow, long time no update here. I've been pretty busy
with college so haven't had a whole lot of time to model
and such, but if you want to see a WIP Ferrari 355, check
it out on THIS FORUM, for an rFactor mod team that I
decided to join up with. Please register and comment if it
interests you. RACER still gets the more detailed
model of course, so no need to worry, folks. I'll post a WIP
on the Racer forums when they come back online.

Also, I just want to add this:

October 16, 2004

Uploaded the big update to the 456gt!
A list of changes is on the 456 page, along with downloads.

October 13, 2004

A bigger update of the 456gt is in the works.
It includes a revised Car.ini and fixes various other things.

Ruud has released a new beta today as well (.5.2beta7.3),
but it appears the car will still work in that. the beta is quite
buggy though, so don't delete your beta6 folder just yet!

October 7, 2004

Small update for the 456gt released. grab it on the 456 page.

October 6, 2004

Finally got the 456 done, so download it HERE and have fun!

September 3, 2004

Well, college is underway again as of a few days ago,
so I'm not entirely certain how much time I'll have
to wrok on this stuff. In any case, I think I'm
finally done with exterior texturing. There's no static shading
as of right now, but I'm going to experiment a bit
more with texture baking this weekend I think. Interior
mapping should occur this weekend too, but who's to say really.

August 22, 2004

Due to the way texturing a model works, I'll be
posting all the small updates in the thread on RSC.
So go there for updates until I've got texturing done.
This doesn't mean that the W.I.P. section on this page
 will remain dormant, though...

August 3, 2004

I've UV mapped the painted parts of the body and
started the texturing process. Unlike my previous cars, the UVs
are fully unwrapped and laid out well, so racing & custom
textures are possible.

July 26, 2004

It took a while, but I finished off the body and did the
normals work. Next to do is UV mapping and texturing.

July 13, 2004

WOW. I finally managed to model the 456's side mirrors.
They're sort of an odd shape, and I tried lots of
different methods to make them, but in the end it
was simple, careful poly modeling that led me to victory.
I might add in a few more polies to round them off
for the interior view.

June 28, 2004

After a few weeks of waiting for my 4th rim to arrive
(had to exchange cuz they sent one incorrect wheel),
I've finally got the new rims on my Celica. The tires are
Yokohama AVID H4s 205/40R17. I think the car looks
a lot better with these new wheels.

June 22, 2004

I've been having troubles with ATI and Maya
not playing well together, so that could explain some
of the extremely slow progress on the 456. I've also
been doing some stuff for other people and naturally
just enjoying the summer. I've got the ATI Vs. Maya
dispute settled i think (used some special drivers to
make my 9800pro act like a FireGL), so i think progress
will resume at a reasonable pace now.

June 1, 2004

I had ordered some new rims for the Celica
(I really hate hub caps), and they arrived today.
I think they'll look killer.

May 19th, 2004

Damn, its really been 9 days since I last updated that 456 WIP?
Gotta love summer (and Xbox games).
And just to drop some mystery into the air, I've got a new car
in the works...

May 12th, 2004

Put up some pics I took at the BMW/Toyota dealer tonight.

May 1st, 2004

Added more photos of cars I saw today.
Some are nice...some are rice...

April 29th, 2004

I've added some new pics to the Photo section of a couple
7th generation Toyota Celicas.
Expect progress on the 456 sometime soon, I'll finally
have time to work on it seriously in a day or so.

April 16th, 2004

I've uploaded the first part of a Wheel making tutorial
for Maya. The rest of it will come eventually.

April 12th, 2004

Nick_II's BMW V12 LMR is now being hosted here.
I've given it a shader for the new betas, and it's
compatible with .5final as well.

I've finally added something to the tutorials page.
I have explained how to set a couple values in the
Car.ini : Suspension lengths and Center of Gravity.
I hope they're useful, and more might come later.

April 5th, 2004

The black color package for the 308Qv is updated
with a much better shader thanks to Angel O'Death
on RSC, and all the other colors now contain backups
of the standard shader.

April 3rd, 2004

I added a bunch of pictures of cars I saw today.
The vast majority of them made me laugh.

April 1st, 2004

Issued a small shader update for my Ferrari 308QV.
It now includes the brake lights and steering wheel.
The glass shader is also revised a little. You can grab
a small update ZIP if you downloaded the file yesterday,
or just grab the whole package if you haven't, as that's
totally up to date as well.

March 31st, 2004

I've updated my Ferrari 308QV with shaders
for the new betas. I've changed some small things
with the model/textures to do so, so I recommend
deleting the old folder and extracting this new one.
As usual, the car is still compatible with .5final as well.
There's also a couple new colors to choose from.

March 29th, 2004

Nick_II's BMW M3 GTR is now being hosted here,
and I have given it a shader for the betas. As with
the Lexus, the car is still fully compliant with .5final.
Enjoy it!

March 22nd, 2004

Bryan C's Lexus IS300 is now updated for the latest
RACER betas. It is still fully compatible with 0.5f as well,
so no worries to those who stick with that. I recommend
deleting your old folder and just extracting this new one.

My cars will be updated very soon, just a couple issues left to
take car of before I can release the updates.

March 17th, 2004

I've brought up the W.I.P. section, as I've finally
gotten far enough with the model to show all you people.
Directly underneath the heading "Site News" it will show
when the W.I.P. page has been updated, since that might be
often, and I wouldn't want to flood the new page each time.

March 13th, 2004

Uploaded a bunch more pics of my Celica. There's also
some pics of the mini-van I was borrowing from my grandpa
before I got the Celica. Check them in the PHOTOS section.

March 12th, 2004

Since I just bought a new (used) car and I actually like it,
I've opened up a PHOTO section to the site, so you can
find some pics of the car there. More will follow once I
get it back from repairs tomorrow.

Because of this I've redone the side menu.

And if anybody's wondering about those unopened W.I.P.
and Tutorial sections, well, you'll have something to look
at soon enough.  The first tutorial will probly be making a wheel
in Maya, from the modeling to the texturing (with tips from Beni C.).
Don't know when that'll be, but it shouldn't be too far off.

February 21st, 2004

I have been working on a unit conversion program lately
in Visual Basic, and I hereby release version 1.0
Go grab it in the new "Apps" section.

I have also added a link to R.Machuca's site.

January 23rd, 2004

Changed the title of the site to "Scuderia F50"
It fits a bit better to the whole Ferrari theme.

January 20th, 2004

Fixed the driver ini for the 308. It turns out I didn't
reference the model names correctly. So now you can
enjoy Fastandryan's driver texture if you want.

You can grab the updated INI file HERE
The Zip files on this site are also updated.
(as of 12:05am Mountain Time on the 20th)

January 4th, 2004

New site design and hosting. Bye-bye Tripod.

An updated version of the Ferrari 308GTB Qv is available!
