Cacti not worried about Hell's Pitchers
During the opening week of the season, the Hell Fire visited the Buffalo Bolts. Three Bolts' batters were hit in the same game, with one significant injury. Last week, the act was repeated, this time in Nashville, where Slammers' catcher Jamie Burke was cracked on the knuckle by a supposed errant pitch, putting him out of commission for a month. Next week Hell's tour to hit a batter on every non-SDX team hits southern Arizona and home of the western division-leading Cacti.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned," manager Gagne said about the possibility that the Fire hurlers might be throwing at his players. "We just ordered some extra armor for our guys, courtesy of Barry Bonds, and keep our batters on high alert. We even had our pitching machines throw a random pitch a bit too far inside on our guys."

It should be noted about that last part that the batters were wearing full pads, and this was a drill just to get the batters used to what the Fire pitchers have been doing this season.

"I know we have a good enough team that we can overcome whatever their guys decide to throw at us." Gagne said.
