Hounds are two steps away from sixth playoff berth
The Oklahoma Rockhounds have been a fixture in the IBE playoffs, making the postseason every season of the league's existence so far.

This season looks to be no different, although they've done it in a much quieter fashion. Oklahoma sits two games away from running their streak of playoff appearances to six. If the Rockhounds win twice, or win once and both Birmingham and Havana lose one game, or if the Birmingham-Havana series splits, the Rockhounds will once again qualify for the postseason.

"I can't take too much credit for this one," manager Tony Gwynn said. "I give this one to the superior drafting and management of our front office. They took all the pressure off of us with all the hoopla in Indiana this season, and allowed these guys to do what they do. I just hope we can step it up heading into the playoffs."

The Rockhounds have been plentry dangerous in the playoffs, as well. They're the only team that has won two championships, including last year's exciting seven-game duel with Tucson. Every playoff series they've lost has gone the full seven games.

Rockhounds finally in gear, but can they win at home?
So far this season, the defending champions haven't been able to win their home games, but are 7-3 in their road games thus far.

And that's bad news for the rest of the league, because the Rockhounds play their next two series on the road.

"No question about it, we've gotten complacent at home," manager Tony Gwynn said. "These players are also getting old. It's amazing we've won as much as we have."

Oklahoma heads to the Carribean to face Hell this week, and then visits Music City after that.
