adverse motorcycle legislation and to promote favorable
legislation for motorcyclists at local, state, and federal
levels.
Improve road conditions, thus making roads
safer for motorcyclists.
Help prevent accidents through rider and
motorist awareness and education.
Discourage motorcycle thefts.
Promote political involvement of
motorcyclists.
Act as liaison between motorcyclists and
government authorities.
Present and promote a better public image of
motorcyclists.
ABATE membership is open to all persons
interested in motorcycle legislation and education. ABATE
is not a gang, club, or part of a governmental body. ABATE
is a motorcycle rights organization which represents all
motorcyclists (member or not). ABATE of SD has a lobbyist
at the state capitol in Pierre who monitors legislation for
motorcyclists at the state level. ABATE of SD has 17
chapters scattered throughout the state, including one at
Sturgis. You do not need to be a resident of South Dakota
to join.
Gain bragging rights with your friends when
you tell them that you are a member of the Sturgis Chapter of
