Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
PRAYER
Eternal Father we humbly offer Thee our poor presence and that of the whole of humanity from the beginning to the end of the world at all the Masses that ever have or ever will be prayed. We offer Thee all the pains, suffering, prayers, sacrifices, joys and relaxations of our lives, in union with those of our dear Lord Jesus here on earth. May the Most Precious Blood of Christ, all His blood and wounds and agony save us, through the sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Amen.
The holy Sacrifice of the Mass is celebrated as a memorial of our redemption from the slavery of evil effected by Christ's death on the cross. The bread and wine are changed into the body and blood of Christ at the Consecration in the Mass. We celebrate mass to honor and glorify God; To thank Him for all the graces bestowed on the whole world; To satisfy God's justice for the sins of men; To obtain all graces and blessings.
The Mass is divided into 3 main parts, The Offertory, at which the priests offers to God the bread and wine to be changed at the Consecration; The Consecration, at which the substance of the bread and wine are changed into the substance of Christ's body and blood; The Communion, at which the priest receives the Holy Eucharist under the appearance of both bread and wine.
The first benefit is bestowed on the priest who says the Mass; The second on the person for whom the Mass is said, or for the intention for which it is said; The third on those who are present at the Mass, and particularly on those who serve it, and The fourth on all the faithful who are in communion with the Church.
THE BENEFITS OF ATTENDING MASS
Every Mass will go with you to Judgement and will plead for pardon for you
By devoutly assisting at Holy Mass you render the greatest homage possible to the Sacred Humanity of Our Lord.
He forgives you all the venial sins which you are determined to avoid. He forgives you all your unknown sins which you never confessed. The power of Satan over you is diminished.
Through Holy Mass you are preserved from many dangers and misfortunes which would otherwise have befallen you. You shorten your Purgatory by every Mass.
Every time you assist at Holy Mass, besides other intentions, you should offer it in honor of the Saint of the day.
PRAYER AFTER RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me.
And bid me come to Thee.
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee.
Forever and ever. Amen.
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
"A spiritual communion acts on the soul as blowing does on a cinder. Whenever you feel your love of God growing cold, quickly make a spiritual communion".
O Jesus,I turn toward the holy tabernacle
where You live hidden for love of me.
I love you, O my God,
I cannot receive you in Holy Communion.
Come nevertheless and visit me with Your grace.
Come Spiritually into my heart.Purify it.Sanctify it.
Render it like unto Your own. Amen.
Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof,
but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
