Lazaro
Luis does not seem to be a well known cartographer, but he produced
several very attractive maps. The designs of the souvenir sheet from
Macau and the stamp from The Gambia are based on his work. Both
probably come from his manuscript atlas of 1563. The original atlas is
in the Lisbon Academy of Science.

The stamp
from Gambia shows a picture of São Jorge El Mina, a fortress built by
the Portuguese on the coast of Africa in 1482, from a map from Luis'
atlas of 1563
